
Kattalan, the upcoming actioner starring Antony Varghese, will officially begin production on August 22 in Kochi with a traditional pooja ceremony, the makers have announced. Directed by debutant Paul George, the film is centred on the theme of ivory smuggling and is being positioned as a mass entertainer catering to a national audience. It has dialogues penned by noted novelist and Big B writer Unni R.
Joining Antony Varghese in Kattalan's cast are Rajisha Vijayan, Marco-fame Kabir Singh Duhan, veteran actor Jagadish, Telugu actors Sunil and Raj Tirandasu, rapper Baby Jean, and singer Hanan Shaah, who will be making his acting debut following the success of his independent track 'Chirapunji'. The film is backed by Shareef Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner, best known for producing the Unni Mukundan-starrer Marco.
The technical crew of Kattalan includes cinematographer Renadive, editor Shameer Muhammed, and Kantara music director B Ajaneesh Loknath. Stunt sequences will be handled by noted action choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, whose credits include Ong-Bak 2, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and Jawan.
Kattalan will be released in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
