Acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Blessy has announced that his Guinness World Record-holding documentary, 100 Years of Chrysostom, will be released in weekly episodes on the Visual Romance YouTube channel, beginning Saturday, April 19, at 10 AM. The biographical documentary, which chronicles the life of Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom, the longest-serving bishop of the Mar Thoma Church, holds the Guinness World Record for the longest documentary film, with a runtime of 48 hours and 10 minutes.

100 Years of Chrysostom features narration by veteran actor Mohanlal, music by M Jayachandran and Stephen Devassy, and cinematography by Satheesh Kurup. It is produced under Blessy’s home banner, Visual Romance. In a social media post on Sunday, Blessy explained that the project was a personal endeavour following his 2013 film Kalimannu. He noted that the documentary did not initially reach audiences as intended, attributing this to his commitments with the feature film Aadujeevitham. He described the documentary as an attempt to present "the profound thoughts behind the humour and warmth" of the bishop. It was originally released in April 2019 to commemorate the bishop’s centenary. The film includes a 75-minute biographical segment followed by in-depth conversations with 100 notable personalities from various fields, including politics, arts, and sports.

Blessy, best known for his award-winning feature films, such as Kaazhcha and Thanmathra, last helmed the Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Aadujeevitham, an adaptation of Benyamin’s eponymous novel.
