From its recently-released trailer, Asif Ali's upcoming release Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali looks like a story of a young man on trial for allegedly abusing his wife over dowry. It seems like an attempt to showcase how legal provisions can be misused against men. The trailer opens with Asif, who plays the character Sahadevan, delivering an emotional monologue in the court about Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, saying it's formulated for women’s protection and not to ruin the lives of men.

The trailer also shows glimpses of the issues in Sahadevan's life and his legal confrontation to prove his innocence. The film has newcomer Thulasi as the female lead. Veteran Jagadish plays a significant role as a lawyer. Others in the cast include Harisree Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan, Asees Nedumangad, Anand Manmadhan, and Balachandran Chullikkadu among others .

Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali is written and directed by debutant Sethunath Padmakumar. Produced by Naisam Salam, the film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Ajay David Kachappilly, editor Sobin K Soman, and music directors Bijibal, Muthu and Christy Joby. The makers are yet to confirm the release date.

Asif also has 1001 Nunakal-fame Thamar KV's Sarkeet, scheduled for May 8 release, Jeethu Joseph’s Mirage, Jis Joy's upcoming film scripted by Bobby and Sanjay, and Rohith VS’ Tiki Taka in his lineup.
