As Mammootty celebrates his 73rd birthday today, the title and first look of his next with Gautham Vasudev Menon has been unveiled. Titled Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, its first look features Mammootty in a bathrobe with a ladies' purse lying beside him. In the backdrop, we can see posters of iconic characters like James Bond and Sherlock Holmes. A carrom board has also been converted into a detective board, all of which suggests a quirky investigation thriller.
Dominic and the Ladies' Purse is scripted by Dr Neeraj Rajan and Dr Suresh Rajan, who both had earlier co-written ABCD (2013) apart from working on the additional screenplay of Iratta (2023). In an earlier conversation with us, Neeraj revealed that Mammootty plays a private detective in the upcoming film. He said, "It's a comedy thriller with Mammukka playing a fun character on the lines of Sherlock Holmes."
The upcoming film, which marks Gautham Menon's directorial debut in Malayalam, is backed by MammoottyKampany. It also stars Gokul Suresh, Vineeth, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu and Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum-fame Viji Venkatesh in key roles.
In the core technical departments, Gautham has retained his previous collaborators, including his regular editor Anthony, cinematographer Vishnu Dev, one of the DOPs of the director's yet-to-be-released Dhruva Natchathiram, and composer Darbuka Siva, known for his work in the 2019 film Enai Noki Paayum Thota.
Mammootty next has debutant Deeno Dennis' Bazooka lined up for release. Notably, Gautham Menon is also playing a prominent role in it.
