A new 3D Malayalam mythological epic Veera Manikandan has been officially launched. Based on the tales of Lord Ayyappa, the film is directed by Mahesh Kesav and Saji S Mangalath, the duo helming the upcoming Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer 11:11.
The launch event for Veera Manikandan took place at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam, where the poster and script were ceremonially presented to the temple's head priest, Arun Kumar Namboothiri. Scripted by Nagesh Narayanan, the film is set to begin production on November 16, coinciding with the beginning of Malayalam month Vrischikam, the first day of the Sabarimala pilgrimage season in 2024. The release is planned for 2025, aligning with the pilgrimage season.
In addition to Malayalam, Veera Manikandan will also be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. While the film will feature leading artists from all major industries across the country, a newcomer will portray the titular character, according to the makers.
