Prithviraj Sukumaran took to social media on Saturday to inform the commencement of Empuraan's latest shooting schedule in Hyderabad. In his post, the director-actor sounded proud of his team for shifting the shoot from Gujarat to Hyderabad in just 12 hours.

Earlier, the makers had to stall the Gujarat schedule abruptly due to torrential rains in the state. Billed as one of the most expensive films ever in Malayalam, Empuraan has also been extensively shot across Kerala, Chennai, Ladakh, the UK, and the US. It is backed by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.

Empuraan, the sequel to Lucifer (2019), sees the return of Mohanlal as Khureshi-Ab'raam aka Stephen Nedumpally. Along with him, the likes of Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith Sukumaran are also reprising their roles from Lucifer. It is scripted by Murali Gopy, who penned the first part as well. The core team from Lucifer, including cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev and music director Deepak Dev, have also been retained.
