On Sunday, the makers of Raj B Shetty and Aparna Balamurali's Rudhiram, directed by debutant Jisho Lon Antony, unveiled the film's teaser. The 1 min 43 seconds teaser opens with the African proverb and the film’s tagline, “The axe forgets but the tree remembers.” The first shot features insect houses in front of a white, colonial-style home under broad daylight. Raj’s character soon appears, dressed in a white protective suit and gloves, handling an insect containment device. This is followed by the introduction of Aparna’s character, seemingly trapped in a house, amidst grim and violent visuals. With its brooding tone and compelling imagery, the film promises to be an intriguing and intense psychological thriller, as claimed by the makers.
Rudhiram, co-scripted by Jisho and Joseph Kiran George, reportedly follows the mysterious events happening in the life of a doctor. The film, which began production in 2023, was initially planned as the Kannada actor-director's debut in Malayalam cinema. However, Raj has since appeared in Malayalam films earlier this year, including Turbo and Kondal.
On the technical front, Rudhiram has cinematography by Sajad Kaakku, editing by Bavan Sreekumar and music composed by 4Musics. Besides Malayalam, the film will also have dubbed versions in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. It is produced by VS Lalan under the banner of Rising Sun Studio, with distribution handled by Gokulam Gopalan’s Sree Gokulam Movies.
