Siju Wilson is CI Shambu Mahadev in Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer Detective Ujjwalan

Earlier, we reported that Dhyan Sreenivasan would be headlining Detective Ujjwalan, produced by Weekend Blockbusters. On Friday, the makers announced that actor Siju Wilson has joined the cast and will be portraying the role of CI Shambu Mahadev. The film, an investigative thriller, is written and directed by debutants Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G. It is set for a 2025 release.

Detective Ujjwalan will be part of the Weekend Cinematic Universe (WCU), which began with Minnal Murali (2021). The production company introduced this universe as a shared world for its films. In an earlier conversation with CE, co-director Indraneel mentioned that the shoot would commence in November but kept details about the plot and additional cast members under wraps. Addressing speculations of a connection with Minnal Murali, he explained that Detective Ujjwalan would expand the WCU much like how early Marvel films, such as Iron Man and The Hulk, exist in the same world without being directly linked.

On the technical side, Detective Ujjwalan has Prem Akkattu and Sraiyanti as cinematographers, RDX editor Chaman Chacko handling the cuts, and Rzee composing the music.
