Anurag Kashyap showers admiration for Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys

February 2024 was a remarkable month for Malayalam cinema as three incredibly diverse films—Premalu, Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys—got released in subsequent weeks. While all the three films have managed to rock the box office, Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys have also been garnering widespread appreciation from many revered filmmakers across the country.

After the likes of Vikramadithya Motwane, Venkat Prabhu and Gautham Vasudev Menon, the latest to join the party is Anurag Kashyap. The ace filmmaker took to his Letterboxd handle to share his love for both the films.

In his logged entry for Bramayugam, Kashyap expressed his "insane jealousy" towards Malayalam filmmakers citing their audacity and courage. He also went on to appreciate the audience in Kerala for empowering such filmmaking, while also being in awe of Mammootty. He also added about his plan to watch the actor's Kaathal - The Core soon.

Sharing his excitement about Manjummel Boys, Anurag Kashyap praised the "extraordinary filmmaking" and conviction of the makers. He also wondered how such ideas are being sold to the producers. Reflecting on the quality of Hindi cinema, the Gangs of Wasseypur filmmaker poked that Bollywood can only think of doing remakes of such ideas.

While Manjummel Boys is still making waves at the global box office, Bramayugam is getting ready for its SonyLIV premiere on March 15.
