Basil Joseph and Grace Antony are coming together for Nunakuzhi, first look of which was out on Saturday. The poster features the two actors looking anxious as they find themselves in a police jeep. Jeethu Joseph is directing the film and it is scripted by KR Krishna Kumar, who had earlier penned the director's 12th Man (2022) and Kooman (2022).
Nunakuzhi, according to the makers, is a comedy of errors following the story of a young man caught in a web of lies and mistaken identities. Siddharth Anand Kumar, Senior Vice President of Films & Events at Saregama India Ltd., commented, "It has been a remarkable year for the Malayalam film industry, and we are delighted to collaborate with one of its most esteemed directors. Nunakuzhi promises to be a fun adventure which will leave the audiences thoroughly entertained."
Jeethu Joseph, who is returning to comedy after a string of thrillers, said, "The diversity of films in Malayalam cinema was reason enough for me to want to experiment with a comedy film, and Nunakuzhi was the perfect opportunity. This film is particularly special as I had the chance to work with Basil, who is both a brilliant actor and filmmaker. I'm sure this film will leave audiences in splits."
Basil Joseph shared his excitement, saying, "Working with an industry stalwart like Jeethu sir for the first time has been an incredibly inspiring experience, and I can already feel the audience's anticipation. Nunakuzhi is one of the most special films in my career, and I hope the audience too has a lasting experience they can take home."
Nunakuzhi also stars Manoj K Jayan, Swasika, Siddique, Baiju Santhosh, Saiju Kurup, and Aju Varghese in prominent roles. On the technical front, the director has retained his frequent collaborators including editor Vinayak VS and cinematographer Satheesh Kurup.
Nunakuzhi, produced by Yoodlee Films, the film studio division of Saregama, and Bedtime Stories, is set to release on August 15, 2024.
