Antony Varghese Pepe's new film with debutant director Ajit Mampally has been titled Kondal. The makers announced the title on Thursday along with a motion poster, which features animated visuals of a mid-sea fight set in a fishing boat. There's also an accompanying voiceover by actor-writer Murali Gopy about the four kinds of winds—'Kachaan', which blows from the direction of North to South; 'Vaada' from South to North; 'Koda' from East to West; and finally, Kondal, which blows from the sea to shore. Billed as an action-packed revenge drama, the film is set completely against a coastal backdrop.
Antony Varghese, known for his action roles, is expected to flex his muscles yet again. Starring alongside him in a prominent role is Kannada actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty, recently seen as the antagonist opposite Mammootty in Turbo. Shabeer Kallarakkal, Nandu, Manikanda Rajan, Pramod Veliyanadu, Prathibha, Gauthami Nair, Usha, Jaya Kurup, Sarath Sabha, Siraj and Rahul Rajagopal are also part of the cast.
Kondal is written by director Ajit, Roylin Robert, and Satheesh Thonakkal. Composer Sam CS, cinematographer Jithin Stanislaus, and editor Sreejith Sarang are part of its technical team. It is backed by Weekend Blockbusters, the same production house behind Antony's superhit film, RDX. The makers will be hoping to repeat RDX's success as they target an Onam release this time as well.
Meanwhile, Antony's new film Daveed was launched recently. Also hinted to be an actioner, the film is directed by debutant Govind Vishnu.
