Ullozhukku, starring Parvathy Thiruvothu and Urvashi, hit screens on Friday and has opened to excellent response. Actor Tovino Thomas took to social media a while back to heap praise on the film. Sharing a poster of Ullozhukku, he wrote, "Brilliantly written, made and performed." Earlier, the makers had arranged a preview for industry insiders and the response there was unanimously positive. Actors like Kani Kusruti, Nikhila Vimal, Shruti Ramachandran, Prayaga Martin, Divyaprabha, and Darshana Rajendran showered appreciation on the film and the performances of the two leads.

Ullozhukku, written and directed by Christo Tomy, is an emotional drama set in a flooded Kuttanad. It tells the story of a family forced to wait for the floodwaters to subside to bury their loved one. As they wait, many secrets and lies surface. Urvashi plays Parvathy's mother-in-law in the film, which explores their peculiar bond, along with themes like grief, desire and freedom. The cast also includes Prashant Madhav, Arjun Radhakrishnan and Alencier in key roles.
Though Ullozhukku marks Christo Tomy's debut feature, he is a two-time National award winner for his short films. Last year, he also made the Netflix true-crime documentary Curry and Cyanide: The Jolly Joseph Case. His script for Ullozhukku was also the winner among over 35,000 submissions at Cinestaan India's Storytellers Contest held in 2018.
