On Wednesday, actor Mohanlal was elected as the President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for a third consecutive term. He was the sole candidate for it when the list of nominees for various positions, including Vice President and General Secretary, was announced. The term will last for three years, from 2024 to 2027, and elections for other roles will take place in Kochi on June 30.

Malikappuram actor Unni Mukundran will be the new treasurer of AMMA, as no other candidates submitted nominations for this post. Meanwhile, actors Jagadish, Jayan R, and Manju Pillai are running for the Vice President’s position, while actors Kukku Parameshwaram, Siddique, and Unni Shivapal have submitted their nominations for the general secretary’s role.

The candidates for the new executive committee members of AMMA include Ananya, Ansiba Hassan, Joy Mathew, Kalabhavan Shajon, Ramesh Pisharody, Rony David, Sarayu Mohan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Suresh Krishna, Tiny Tom, Tovino Thomas, and Vinu Mohan.

Earlier, actor Edavela Babu announced that he has decided to step down from the General Secretary’s role and will not be contesting for any position this time. He has been an active member of AMMA since its inception in 1994, serving in various capacities such as joint secretary and secretary for over three decades.
