On Monday, actors Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir launched the title of their upcoming film, Pathirathri, with a tagline that read, 'One Night, Two Cops.' It marks the sophomore directorial venture of Ratheena, known for helming Mammootty's critically acclaimed 2022 film Puzhu.
Based on a true story, Pathirathri is scripted by Ela Veezha Poonchira-fame Shaji Maraad. The police drama, set in a village in Idukki, also stars Sunny Wayne, Shabareesh Varma, and Ann Augustine in prominent roles. It is produced by KV Abdul Nazer under the banner of Benzy Productions, which has previously backed films such as Varthamanam (2021), Navya-starrer Oruthee (2022), and Ann's Autorickshawkarante Bharya (2022), among others.
As the tagline suggests, Pathirathri will revolve around the incidents happening on one night, centred on two cops. On the technical front, the film has Bramayugam-fame Shehnad Jalal wielding the camera, Sreejith Sarang on the editing table, and Jakes Bejoy handling the music.
Meanwhile, Soubin is awaiting the release of Boban Samuel's Machante Maalakha, featuring Namitha Pramod and Dhyan Sreenivasan also in the lead. The actor also has debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan's Praavinkoodu Shappu and Sudani from Nigeria director Zakariya's upcoming film lined up.
Navya was last seen in Aneesh Upasana's Janaki Jaane, alongside Saiju Kurup.
