In a fresh controversy related to the 2023 Malayalam film RDX: Robert Dony Xavier, the producers of the blockbuster film have reportedly lodged a civil suit against its director, Nahas Hidayath, demanding over Rs 1 crore in compensation. Producer Sophia Paul and her company allege that Nahas breached his contract.
According to the agreement, Nahas, who was paid Rs 15 lakh for directing his debut film RDX, was to direct his sophomore film for the same company. After receiving Rs 40 lakh and an additional Rs 4.82 lakh for preproduction, Nahas allegedly withdrew from the project despite repeated requests to stay. Consequently, the producers are seeking the advance amount plus Rs 50 lakh in damages, including 18% interest. The Ernakulam sub-court has summoned Nahas for a hearing on August 6, though the filmmaker claims he has not yet received the summons.
Earlier, we reported that a financial fraud complaint had been filed against the makers of RDX. Anjana Abraham, a resident of Tripunithura, alleged that the film's producers, Sophia Paul and James Paul, failed to honour their commitment to distributing profits to the stakeholders.
