Checkmate teaser: Anoop Menon in a US-set suspense thriller, driven by the pursuit of power

The teaser of Checkmate, headlined by Anoop Menon, was released by the makers. The upcoming film is directed by debutant Ratish Sekhar, who also served as the writer, cinematographer and composer. The teaser features a monologue by the lead actor's character about the pursuit of power, which is likened to "a game of thrones." Promising to be a suspense thriller shot entirely in the US, its tagline reads, "Every move could be your last."

Besides Anoop, Checkmate stars Lal and Rekha Harindran in the lead roles. The film also includes Raji Arun, Sowmya Rajan, Shyam Krishna, and Viswam Nair among its cast members. On the technical side, it has editing by Prejish Prakash and background score by Ruslan Perezhilo.

Meanwhile, last seen in the Tovino Thomas-starrer Nadikar, Anoop is awaiting the release of Ideem Minnalum, alongside Dhyan Sreenivasan. The actor also has another film titled Chiram in the pipeline.
