Thankamani, starring Dileep and Neeta Pillai in the lead roles, is set to release on March 07 at theatres worldwide. The film is touted as an action drama that revolves around a real-life-inspired bus service dispute in Thankamany that took place in the 1980s. The makers of Thankamani released a poster announcing the release date that features Dileep and Neeta on a cycle, hinting at its period setting.
The film is written and directed by Ratheesh Reghunandan, who is best known for Udal, the 2022 thriller starring Dhyan Sreenivasan, Indrans, and Durga Krishna. William Francis composed the music for the film, while Manoj Pillai handled the cinematography and Shyam Sasidharan edited it.
The cast for Thankamani also includes Pranitha Subhash, Manoj K Jayan, Malavika Menon, and Sudev Nair. The announcement of the release date follows controversy over a writ petition filed in the Kerala High Court that sought to change the title of the film, whose decision was left to the Censor Board. The makers earlier said that a release date would be announced after a confirmation regarding the title and the film's Censor Board approval.
