First look of Dileep's Thankamani out

As reported earlier, Dileep's upcoming film Thankamani with Udal-fame Ratheesh Reghunandan is based on real-life incidents that occurred in the Idukki village of Thankamani in 1986. On the 37th anniversary of the incident, the makers have released the film's first look poster. It is designed as two halves with one half featuring a burning village, while the other has Dileep in an old man's look.

In October 1986, a dispute erupted between students of Thankamani village and a private bus owner over service to the area which didn't have proper roads. The clash blew up into a major one with the police force allegedly siding with the bus owner and unleashing violence in the village. It is reported that the villagers were subject to severe police brutality, including sexual assault on several women.

Thankamani, the film, is expected to be a hard-hitting reminder of these incidents with fictionalised elements. It has Pranitha Subhash and Neeta Pillai as the female leads. The cast also includes Manoj K Jayan, Sudev Nair, Malavika Menon, Ajmal Ameer, Shine Tom Chacko, Siddique, John Vijay, Sampath, Kottayam Ramesh, and Major Ravi. Manoj Pillai is the cinematographer, and Willaim Francis is the composer for this film, which is jointly produced by Super Good Films and Iffaar Media.
