NN Pillai biopic hasn't been dropped yet, reveals Vijayaraghavan

A few years back, it was announced that Rajeev Ravi would direct a film based on NN Pillai's life with Nivin Pauly as the lead. The project was first announced in 2017 on Nivin's birthday. However, there have been no updates regarding it ever since. In a recent interview with CE, NN Pillai's son, actor Vijayaraghavan clarified that they still haven't dropped the project completely.

"It's a huge project that demands a lot of preparations. They'll have to show his days in the INA (Indian National Army), cover world wars... It will be a very costly project, hence the delay. The plan is still on, but still things are in the initial stages. I hope things fall in place soon," said the veteran.

NN Pillai was a playwright, actor, theatre director, and INA freedom fighter. Widely regarded as one of Kerala’s greatest theatre artists of all time, he was called the 'Nadakacharyan' of the Malayalam theatre world. He is popular among movie lovers for his iconic performance as Anjooran in Godfather (1991).

The biopic announced by Rajeev Ravi was based on NN Pillai’s autobiography, Njaan. The film had Gopan Chidamabram attached to it as the scriptwriter and Madhu Neelakandan as the cinematographer. E4 Entertainment was supposed to produce the film.
