Vikram's Sooryaputhran Karnan rolling soon, confirms RS Vimal

Ennu Ninte Moideen director RS Vimal has been working on a film based on the mythological figure Karnan for several years now. Though the film was first announced with Prithviraj Sukumaran, he opted out and was later replaced by Tamil actor Vikram. The team commenced shooting in February 2019 by filming the Kurukshetra battle sequence. The following year, on Vikram's birthday, the makers had also released a glimpse video. However, there hasn't been any no updates about the project ever since, leading to rumours that it has been dropped. Dismissing all the talks, director RS Vimal has released a photo of Vikram in the Karnan look on social media.  He also clarified that the project is very much on and will start rolling soon. More updates are expected to be out shortly.

In 2020, RS Vimal had also announced Dharma Rajya, a period film based on the Travancore royal history. The director had claimed that it will be India's first film to be captured through virtual production in London. He also said that "an ecstasic crowd puller, the superstar of Malayalam" had agreed to do the film. But its current status also remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram, after years of uncertainty, is finally gearing up for release. The Gautham Menon directorial is slated to hit screens on November 24. The actor also has Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, coming up.
