Empuraan, the second part of Lucifer, has had massive hype right from its announcement. The makers are leaving no stone unturned by mounting it as one of the biggest Malayalam films ever. Mohanlal will reprise his role from Lucifer, while Prithviraj Sukumaran and Murali Gopy will resume their roles as the director and writer, respectively. While Lucifer was produced by Mohanlal's Aashirvad Cinemas alone, the banner will reportedly be collaborating with Hombale Films for the production of Empuraan. An official announcement regarding the same is likely to be made on May 21, which happens to be the superstar's birthday.
Having produced the hugely successful KGF franchise and last year's sensational hit, Kantara, Hombale Films is currently one of the leading production houses in Indian cinema. Apart from Empuraan, they are also backing two other Malayalam films -- Dhoomam and Tyson. Dhoomam, starring Fahadh Faasil, Roshan Mathew and Aparna Balamurali, is directed by Kannada filmmaker Pawan Kumar. Tyson is a boxing-based film, which has Prithviraj as the lead actor and director. Murali Gopy is scripting the film, which is yet to begin production.
