Suresh Gopi's next with Jayaraj titled Oru Perumgaliyattam

Suresh Gopi and award-winning filmmaker Jayaraj are collaborating for a new film titled Oru Perumgaliyattam. The actor has undergone a remarkable makeover for his character, Peruvannan, in the film. Since his look is similar to that in the National-award winning film Kaliyattam, also directed by Jayaraj, it lead to speculations about the possibility of a sequel. However, the director has clarified that it's a stand-alone film. He also added that just like Kaliyattam, the upcoming film is also set against the backdrop of the art form Theyyam.

Kaliyattam, which was an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Othello, won Suresh Gopi his first National Film Award for acting. Jayaraj also won the award for Best Direction. After Kaliyattam, the actor-director duo worked together in Ashwaroodan, which ended up as a failure. Oru Perumgaliyattam marks their reunion after 17 long years.

Backed by Yoodlee Films, Oru Perumgaliyattam also stars Anaswara Rajan, Shine Tom Chacko, and KGF-fame BS Avinash. Speaking about the film, Jayaraj said, “Both of us were looking for a good script to collaborate on again, and we are really happy we finally have one. The shoot has started, and everyone is thrilled about how the story is shaping up. We are all doing our best to create what we hope will be a landmark film.”

Suresh Gopi said, “With time, both Jayaraj and I have amassed a lot of experience, but memories of Kaliyattam have remained with us and in the hearts of the audience. The desire to create another milestone was always there, and we finally have a perfect script. I’m looking forward to working with a very talented cast and crew."
