Veteran actor Innocent has been hospitalised after his health condition worsened following cancer-related complications. The former MP has been admitted in a private hospital in Kochi for over a week, but his condition got a bit critical by Wednesday evening. Latest reports suggest that he is responding to medications.

Innocent, who made his acting debut in 1972, has acted in over 750 films. A three-time Kerala State Film Award winner, he also served as the Member of Parliament representing Chalakudy constituency from 2014-19.

A highly optimistic person, Innocent is known for dealing cancer with his trademark humour. He has been battling cancer for several years now, and this is the third time the disease has recurred and infected him. On several instances, he has spoken about how cancer keeps revisiting despite multiple failures to beat him. He even published a book titled 'Cancer Wardile Chiri' (Smile in the Cancer Ward), in which he shared his experiences during the time he underwent treatment. The then Kerala government even included excerpts from his memoir in school text books.
