In what comes as a major relief to actor Unni Mukundan, the Kerala High Court has stayed further proceedings against him in a case related to outraging a woman's modesty.

The complainant had alleged that Unni tried to sexually assault her in 2018 when she had gone to his place for a movie discussion. She also accused the actor of trying to harm and threaten her. Unni, however, had vehemently refuted the allegations and claimed that she was trying to tarnish his image and extort money.

The cast was earlier stayed multiple times by the court. Two years back, in August 2022, Unni's lawyer Saiby Jose Kidangoor claimed that the case was resolved by signing a settlement agreement. But the woman dismissed the claims and clarified before the court that no such document was signed by her. Earlier this year, on May 23, the court directed the completion of trial in three months.

The latest stay order has been invoked after Unni informed the court about a new settlement reached between the two parties. The court was hearing his plea to quash the FIR against him.
