Actor and television host Subi Suresh died at a private hospital in Aluva on Wednesday. The 41-year-old was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments.

Subi, a Tripunithura native, was actively into cultural activities like break dance, mono act and mimicry from her school days. Her first breakthrough came with the television comedy show Cinemala, which later paved her way to the film industry. She made her debut in cinema with the Rajasenan directorial Kanaka Simhasanam. Some of her notable roles came in films like Happy Husbands, 101 Weddings, Drama, Panchavarnathatha and Elsamma Enna Aankutty.

Subi also hosted the popular kids' show Kuttipattalam. She was well-known for her comedy timing and the effortless ease with which she hosted stage shows and award nights. Subi was among the very few female artists from the Malayalam entertainment circle to make a mark with comedy performances.

Subi's passing away has shocked her colleagues in the Malayalam film industry. Many have been paying their condolences on social media.
