Actor Unni Mukundan, last seen in Malikapuram, recently took to his social media handle to refute rumours about him joining politics.

In a statement, he said, "Hello, Just got to know about the news regarding me joining politics. It's FAKE. I'm working on my film, Gandharva Jr. It's a long schedule. I'll keep you posted. Also, extending my humble request to the media houses to kindly check the authenticity of such information before airing them. It's unfair that I have to clear things over and over again. I have high regard for politicians and politics alike because of their direct impact on society. I don't take politics for granted. Hope this serves the purpose." (sic).

His upcoming film Gandharva Jr is directed by debutant Vishnu Aravind.
According to the makers, the film is a fun tale of a gandharvan's arrival and the subsequent events. In Hinduism, Gandharva is a class of celestial beings whose males are divine performers, such as musicians and singers, and females are sacred dancers. Unni Mukundan is likely to play Gandharvan's role in the film.
