

The makers of Aashiq Abu's Neelavelicham have confirmed April 20 as the release date after the film cleared the censors with a U certificate. Neelavelicham is the official remake of 1964 film Bhargavi Nilayam. It has Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's screenplay based on his short story. Hrishikesh Bhaskaran has penned the additional screenplay.
Rima Kallingal, Tovino Thomas, Roshan Mathew, and Shine Tom Chacko play major roles in the film. Chemban Vinod Jose, James Eliya, Jayaraj Kozhikode, Uma KP, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Ranji Kankol, and Jithin Puthenchery essay other supporting roles. Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal are bankrolling the film, which has music by Bijibal and Rex Vijayan. Its technical crew includes Gireesh Gangadharan behind the camera and Saiju Sreedharan handling editing.
Meanwhile, Neelavelicham is caught in legal trouble after director Aashiq Abu and Bijibal received a legal notice from legendary music director MS Baburaj's family for using his songs without prior permission. In reply, Aashiq Abu's OPM Cinema released an official statement clarifying the copyright claims. In the statement, the banner confirmed that they followed up with the recreation of the songs by following all the legal formalities. According to them, they had signed an agreement and paid the required compensation to obtain the rights to reproduce those songs. The statement also mentioned that Baburaj's daughter was informed about the pursuit of the songs, and the project started with her consent. They concluded the statement by saying the current dispute stems from misunderstandings, and the team has been communicating with Baburaj's family to clarify the issues.
