Indian Panorama IFFI 2022: Malayalam films Saudi Vellakka and Ariyippu selected for screening

The 53rd edition of IFFI will take place in Goa from November 20 to 28

The Indian Panorama of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), organised by the National Film Development Corporation, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, on Saturday, announced the selection of 25 feature films.

Two Malayalam films--Saudi Vellakka and Ariyippu--have been selected for the festival. The 53rd edition of IFFI will take place in Goa from November 20 to 28. 

Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Saudi Vellakka stars Lukman, Binu Pappu, Sudhi Koppa, Gokulan, Srindaa, Dhanya Ananyaa, and newcomer Devi Varma. The film is backed by Sandip Senan under the Urvasi theatres banner, which previously backed the National award-winning film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. 

According to reports, the film is inspired by a real-life incident and it revolves around human emotions and discusses some relevant things that we experience in every household. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Saran Velayudhan, editor Nishad Yusuf and music composer Paali Francis.

On the other hand, Kunchacko Boban and  Divya Prabha-starrer Ariyippu is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The film is produced by Shebin Backer, under the banner of Shebin Backer Productions, Kunchacko Boban under the banner of Kunchacko Boban Productions and Mahesh Narayanan under the Moving Narratives banner. Set in the pandemic times in Noida, the film revolves around a Malayali couple and the story unfolds with the events that follow after a manipulated video clip is circulated in their workplace. The film had its world premiere at the 75th Locarno Film Festival.

Other major feature films selected for the festival are the Hindi film The Kashmir Files, SS Rajamouli's RRR, Bengali film Tonic, Akhanda starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, and Dharmveer..Mukkam Post Thane in Marathi, Suriya's Jai Bhim, Telugu films Cinema Bandi and Major
