A few days after Basil Joseph was awarded the Best Director Award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2022, his Minnal Murali-actor Tovino Thomas took to his social media handle and shared a heartwarming note about the former.
He wrote, "As a friend, as an actor, who has acted in his direction, and as an actor who co-acted in several films, I am extremely happy and proud of Basil's growth. Perhaps, I was the first person he called on the phone from the venue after receiving the award." He also added that they are acting together in an upcoming film. He wished Basil to conquer more heights and grow with dignity. "A serious post about Basil on my timeline seems dramatic. But let it be," he added.
To this, Basil replied, extending gratitude to the actor. Minnal Murali, the home-grown superhero film released on Netflix in December 2021. It has Tovino Thomas as an ordinary man who turns into a superhero after being struck by a bolt of lightning that bestows him with special powers. The film also stars Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan, and Aju Varghese in pivotal roles.
