Actor-filmmaker Mahesh Gowda, known for backing content-driven projects under his banner Honnudi, is taking his latest venture to the global stage. His pan-India short film, What Remains of Us, has been officially selected for five prestigious international film festivals.
Directed by Mumbai-based filmmaker Prataya Saha and produced by Mahesh Gowda himself, the short has been made simultaneously in Kannada and Hindi. The film stars Mahesh Gowda in a pivotal role alongside Kerala-based actor Varsha Kurian, who plays the female lead, Jihan.
Speaking about the narrative, the makers describe What Remains of Us as an intense psychological drama centered on an ex-underworld figure named Rana (played by Mahesh Gowda) and his wife, exploring emotional distress, guilt, and lingering trauma from their shadowy past.
The short has secured official selections at major film events, including the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) Toronto, DC South Asian Film Festival, Chambal International Film Festival, and Ceylon International Film Festival.
Mahesh Gowda, who previously earned acclaim as an actor and producer with notable projects such as Mahira and Bilichukki Hallihakki, is set to travel with the film as it begins its international festival run.
