Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar congratulated veteran actor Anant Nag after the Government of India announced that the celebrated star will be conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024.
Describing the honour as a landmark achievement for Karnataka, CM Shivakumar highlighted the deep cultural and artistic resonance the recognition carries across the state.
"It is a moment of immense pride and joy for all Kannadigas that Sri Anant Nag, the pride and legendary actor of Kannada cinema, has been honored with the 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award - 2024', the highest honor in Indian cinema," DK Shivakumar stated.
Commending the veteran performer's enduring craft and contributions across several decades, he added:
"My heartfelt congratulations to Anant Nag, who has enriched the Indian world of art for decades through his natural acting, restraint, and distinctive roles. This honor is a great recognition for the Kannada art fraternity."
The prestigious lifetime achievement honor will be officially conferred during the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony scheduled for September 22, celebrating Anant Nag's distinguished legacy in Indian cinema.
