After a long spell of delays and casting changes, Suri’s Kaage Bangara has finally moved from the waiting room to the sets. According to a source close to the project, the film has gone on floors, with the makers expected to make an official announcement soon.
The film has seen a few casting changes over the course of its development, but Kaage Bangara has now found its leading man in Surya Prakhyath. The actor, who made his debut with Naduve Antaravilli and was last seen in JC – The University, has joined Suri’s next.
Joining him as the female lead is Rithanya Vijay, daughter of actor Vijay Kumar. She made her acting debut with Landlord, directed by Jadeshaa K Hampi. Kaage Bangara will be her second film.
But the casting is only one part of what makes the project interesting. Suri, known for films that build their stories around sharply drawn characters and unpredictable turns, is not treating Kaage Bangara as an isolated film. The project is being positioned as part of a larger series that connects two of his earlier films, Kendasampige and Popcorn Monkey Tiger.
That connection brings Prashanth Siddhi back into a prominent role. His character is said to be carried forward from Kendasampige, making his presence in Kaage Bangara more than just a new casting addition. It also gives the film a direct link to the world Suri has already created, with more actors from the previous two films expected to join the project.
Surendranath has written the story, while Amri has penned the screenplay and dialogues. Charan Raj will compose the music, with Shekar handling the cinematography.
Suri was earlier expected to collaborate with Dhruva Sarja on another project, but that film is currently shelved. For now, Kaage Bangara is no longer just a title in the pipeline. It is a project that has finally begun to talk on the sets.
