Mythri Movie Makers, the banner behind some of Indian cinema’s biggest commercial blockbusters, are trying something genuinely unexpected. Producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar, with Anil Yerneni co-producing, are getting into the horror space for the first time with 418—a tight, no-nonsense thriller made on a modest budget of around ₹6 to 8 crore.

Currently, the industry hooked on massive budgets, marquee names, and visual overload, 418 takes the harder road. Presented by director Prashanth Neel, the film strips away star-driven safety nets to bet purely on storytelling, mood, and authentic performances to give moviegoers a genuinely gripping theatrical ride. The project also carries a strong Kannada connection. It marks the directorial debut of homegrown talent Keerthan Nadagowda, who learned the ropes working alongside Prashanth Neel ever since his Ugramm days.

Leading the cast from the front is versatile actor Chaithra Achar, alongside an ensemble including Surya Raj Veerabathini, Sri Vaishnav, Charan Lakkaraju, Preethi Pagadala, and Shashank Patil. Despite its small scale, the film isn't settling for a quiet regional release. Backed by the makers' clear intent to cross borders, it is heading straight for a pan-India theatrical rollout in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi on October 23, and the Kannada distribution is handled by VK Films.
