Rakul Preet Singh stars in the role of Surpanakha in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming two-part mythological saga, Ramayana. Stepping onto the stage at the film's grand trailer launch in Bengaluru, the actor took a moment to look back at her roots, sharing how coming back to the city felt like a full circle.

"Bengaluru is a very special place for me because my first film happened right here," Rakul shared, recalling her 2009 Kannada debut Gilli. "At that point in time, I didn't even know if I really wanted to act. I have received so much love from this place over the years. Standing here today after all this time and being part of a film like Ramayana feels truly special."

Speaking about being part of the ambitious adaptation mounted by director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, Rakul noted that the story holds deep emotional value for everyone involved.

"It is such a pleasure to be part of the huge vision that Nitesh sir and Namit sir have created," she said. "Ramayana is so close to all our hearts. A lot of hard work has gone into making this, and everyone has given their best, Ranbir, Sai Pallavi, and our brother Ravana, Yash. I really hope all of you enjoy the film and shower us with your love."

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios alongside Monster Mind Creations and DNEG, Ramayana: Part 1 is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
