The makers of the upcoming Kannada film Kalusha, featuring Yuvan Prathap and Aishwarya Muthuraj in the lead roles, unveiled its official teaser and first single at a promotional event. Actor Aishwarya Nag, known for Jolly Days, launched the teaser. Directed by Shanmukha, Kalusha is backed by Prathap R and Narahari under the SPV Productions banner, with Devraj N presenting the film under D Music.
The project marks the feature film debut of software professional Yuvan Prathap as a lead actor. Having previously appeared in notable character roles in Darshan's Roberrt and Gaala, Yuvan has also penned the story and screenplay and co-produced the film. Speaking about the project's core theme, Yuvan Prathap said, “The title Kalusha signifies anger and rage. The narrative explores the dark underbelly of the medical mafia. In our society, people who lack strong support systems often vanish without a trace, almost as if they never existed. The film investigates the unsettling reality of where they go and what happens to them.”
Female lead Aishwarya Muthuraj shared that the gritty premise also balances an emotional throughline. “While the central conflict revolves around a medical racket, there is an organic romantic track running parallel to it. I play an everyday middle-class girl whose life gets drawn into these turbulent events,” she stated, adding that Kalusha will serve as her maiden theatrical release among her five completed projects.
The supporting cast features veteran actors Bala Rajawadi and KS Sridhar in prominent roles. On the technical front, Vinod Hiremath and Waseem Akram jointly scored the music, with the audio rights acquired by D Music as the label’s debut venture. Co-produced by Manjula, Hema NK, and Harshitha, Kalusha has been filmed in real locations in Bengaluru, Davanagere, and Harapanahalli. Currently in the final stages of post-production, the film is gearing up for a theatrical release soon.
