Skanda Ashok, recognised for his performances in films like U Turn and Charulatha, is set to don the police uniform for the upcoming Kannada feature Samudra Manthana. Written and directed by Sachin Shetty, the film stars Yashwanth Kumar and Mandara Battalahalli in the lead roles, with Skanda joining the team in a key role as an upright police officer.
For Skanda, the project came as a direct contrast to his past on-screen work. The actor pointed out the difference between his previous roles and his personal values. "In real life, I strictly abide by the law and have actively participated in civic campaigns promoting traffic safety," Skanda shared. "Ironically, my character in U Turn did the exact opposite! But in Samudra Manthana, playing a dedicated police officer who holds the law in high regard felt very close to who I actually am."
In the film, Skanda plays Shivu, an officer whose thoughts and approach to life match his own principles. He noted that this alignment helped him play the part naturally, adding that the story, the importance of the character, and the hard work of the crew made joining the film an easy decision.
Samudra Manthana brings together a notable cast of actors, including Su From So fame Shivaprakash Punja, senior Tulu actor Ramesh Rai, Gururaj Shetty, Srikanth, and Naveen Shetty. With production underway, Skanda Ashok’s addition in uniform brings added interest to the project.
