Popular Kannada TV serial writer M Vidyalakshmi Prahlad has made her debut as a director with a new short film called Ghama, which carries the tagline “Parimalakke Paravasha.” The film is produced by Adarsh Iyengar under the Sri Krishna Productions banner. It was launched in front of well-known guests.

Vidyalakshmi, who has written for hit serials like Kulavadhu, Nammane Yuvarani, Premaloka, and Pavitra Bandhana, said the story was inspired by events from her own childhood. The 14-minute short film tells the simple story of an innocent village girl and a fragrant soap. The title Ghama was suggested by the director's daughter, Gauri Manohari.

Talking about the film, Vidyalakshmi shared that she narrated the story to producer Adarsh Iyengar, who liked it right away and agreed to back it. She also thanked director Rakshit Theerthahalli for mentoring her, and praised cinematographer Shanthi Sagar for his camera work. To make the film feel real, the team avoided studio dubbing and recorded live sound directly on the shooting set.

Adarsh Iyengar, who also acted in the film, said he was touched by the story when he first heard it eight months ago. He explained that showing the look and feel of the 1990s in a short film was a fun challenge. The team shot the film over four days in the scenic Malnad region, focusing on keeping the story simple and neat. Along with Adarsh, the film features Arpitha Mohithe, Pragya Shetty, Fathima, and child artist Vajra Bhargavi, who all shared their experiences at the launch event.
