In rural Karnataka, a brave young man is often compared to a tiger. This common saying forms the core idea of director Madarangi Mallikarjuna’s upcoming film, Huli Beera, releasing in theatres this Friday, October 2. Bringing together comedy, sentiment, and entertainment, the film touches upon a familiar rural reality: educated youth leaving their villages behind to find work in cities.
The story focuses on a clear question: if skilled youth desert their villages, who will sustain these communities? Actor Anjan stars as Beera, a dependable young man who steps up to solve every local trouble. His bravery earns him the title "Huli Beera." However, his biggest challenge is not fighting villains, but finding practical ways to rejuvenate the village and convince educated youths to return and flourish on their own land.
What makes Huli Beera distinct is its pure regional flavour. The director, producers, lead actors, and crew are almost entirely natives of North Karnataka. For Mallikarjuna, known for Rang Birangi, this marks his fifth film as a director. The team avoided artificial film sets, shooting talkie scenes and songs across Badami and nearby villages for 51 days to capture the rugged landscape and authentic rural lifestyle.
Produced by Davala Saheba Hunashimarada, Ashok N (Turuvekere), and Sujatha Girish under Sai Star Cinemas, the film stars Chaithra Thotada and Vanu Patil alongside Anjan. Veteran actor Rangayana Raghu portrays a wise village elder, joined by native actors Rajendra Karanth, Mallu Bagalkot, Santhosh Keri, and Revanna. With cinematography by Sanathana, songs composed by Veera Samarth, and background music by Dharma Vish.
