Noted director Dr. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, long celebrated for bringing sensitive, content-driven narratives to Kannada, has another reason to toast. His latest outing, America America 2, has successfully completed a 50-day run at the box office. The team marked the golden occasion surrounded by film industry, literary figures, and the cast and crew.

While commercial cinema often measures triumph through box office spreadsheets, Nagathihalli made his stance unmistakably clear. "Discussing box office collections and trade numbers has never been my cup of tea," the filmmaker asserted, reflecting on the making and reception of the film. "Even today, we receive calls from across India and abroad from film lovers sharing how deeply the story moved them. The affection poured in by senior artists and cultural icons is far more precious to me than any multi-crore tally."

Delving into love, intricate interpersonal dynamics, and poignant life choices, America America 2 struck an emotional chord with cinephiles right from day one. Addressing the gathering, the director also reflected on crafting the film's climax, ensuring it honoured the audience's emotional investment without resorting to melodrama.

Lead actors Pruthvi Ambaar and Shanvi Srivastava walked down memory lane, reminiscing about the filming journey, while seasoned performer Mandya Ramesh and the ensemble cast were lauded for lending grounded realism to their roles.

The celebratory evening drew prominent names from journalism and literature, including senior editor Ravindra Bhat, Commissioner for Information and Public Relations M.A. Anucheth, writers Kusuma Ayarahalli and Deepa Hiregutti, as well as Sahana Vijayakumar, who penned the original novel on which the film is based.
