Director Kumaar, who carved out a distinct identity in Kannada cinema with quirky, content-driven entertainers like Chemistry of Kariyappa, Critical Keerthanegalu, and Love You Muddu, is gearing up for his next, Amaravathi. The filmmaker, who also steps into production with this project under his Kesari Film Capture banner, has officially kick-started the musical promotions by unveiling the earthy folk single, ‘Dooriyamma’.
The track serves as an entry point into the film's rustic soundscape, spearheaded by popular playback singer Naveen Sajju, who headlines the project as the lead actor. Taking complete ownership of the track, Sajju has also penned the lyrics and composed the melody, besides singing it. To amplify its native essence, the team brought on board social media sensation and folk talent Kinnari Jogi Siddappa to share mic duties with Sajju. Visually, the song has been captured across natural expanses, primarily featuring the tribal settlements of Piriyapatna alongside the picturesque greens of Madikeri.
Billed as a comedy-thriller inspired by actual events, Amaravathi is structured around a tight screenplay where the entire narrative unfolds over the course of a single day. Rooted in a rural backdrop, the film intertwines situational humor with a pointed commentary on pressing ecological concerns like deforestation.
The ensemble cast includes Girish Shivanna, Yash Shetty, Sameeksha Ram, Gouri Shaiva, Sumanth, and Vishwa Vijetha. On the technical side, the film features cinematography by Naveen Challa, editing by Venki UDV and Deepu CS, and art direction by Purushottham, with the musical score co-helmed by Naveen Sajju and Akash Parva. Post-production work is currently underway, and the makers are expected to announce the theatrical release date shortly.
