The passing of actor Dileep Raj has drawn renewed reflection on his unexpected connection with Puneeth Rajkumar, with both stars linked by a shared screen history and a strikingly similar fate.
Both appeared in Milana, where Puneeth played Akash and Dileep Raj portrayed Hemanth. Years later, both died of heart attacks while still active in the industry.
Puneeth Rajkumar passed away in October 2021 at 46, while Dileep Raj died in May 2026 at 48. Both were widely respected for their humility, discipline and clean public image.
Their impact extended beyond acting. Puneeth founded PRK Productions to support emerging talent, while Dileep Raj established Dhriti Creations, producing television serials and creating opportunities for artists and technicians behind the scenes.
Both actors were strongly supported by their families, with their wives playing key roles in their production journeys. Despite their success, they remained known for simple lifestyles and grounded personalities.
Actor Dileep Raj reportedly suffered a heart attack in the early hours of May 13 and could not be saved despite being taken to three hospitals. He collapsed around 5.30 am after complaining of chest pain at his Bengaluru home.
His wife Vidya sought immediate help, with a nearby auto driver and the building security staff assisting in shifting him into an auto-rickshaw and rushing him to a nearby hospital.
Auto driver Devendra Naidu, who helped transport him, said the first hospital allegedly refused treatment, citing the absence of a doctor. At a second hospital, an ECG reportedly showed no heartbeat, but the family was allegedly denied an ambulance despite the critical condition. He was later taken to Sagar Hospitals, where doctors declared him dead.
In an emotional post shared after his passing, his wife Srividya thanked friends, colleagues and fans for their support during the difficult time. She said Dileep would live on through his work and the kindness he showed to those around him.
She added that she is trying to come to terms with the loss but remains overwhelmed with grief, writing that her “soul will not rest in peace until I see him again.” The post has been widely shared across the Kannada film and television industry, prompting an outpouring of condolences.
