The makers of Tiklu Rama have unveiled the novel version of the story while the film is still in production, turning the spotlight toward a project already surrounded by curiosity and controversy. The upcoming feature, directed by Manju Kavi and based on a novel by Dr Nataraj, has reportedly completed around 40 per cent of its shoot. The team recently hosted a launch event for the book, where several noted names from Karnataka’s literary and film circles gathered to support the project.
Among the attendees were veteran lyricist Dr Doddarange Gowda, actor-director K Suchendra Prasad, writer-director B Shivanand and Dr Bharat, all of whom praised the film’s socially conscious narrative. Speaking at the event, director Manju Kavi described Tiklu Rama as a story rooted in environmental awareness, adding that the story aims to inspire audiences to think more deeply about nature conservation and rural life. Actor Suchendra Prasad, who plays a legislator in the film, echoed those sentiments and highlighted the story’s village backdrop and emotional connect.
The film stars Dr Rajveer in the lead alongside Chaitra Ram, Jahangir, Girish, Vinod Pavithra, Nikhita Swamy and Shravya. Produced by Shruthi GB and Komala Nataraju under the Karishma-Shravya Combines banner, the project is also expected to undergo a title change following objections surrounding its current name. With its literary-first strategy and socially driven themes, Tiklu Rama is placing itself as an offbeat entrant in the Kannada film space.
