One of the most sought-after music directors in Kannada cinema today, Ajaneesh Loknath is bringing his music to the stage with what is being presented as Kannada’s first large-scale music concert led by a film composer.
Known for compositions in films such as Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Kirik Party, Bell Bottom, Avane Srimannarayana, Vikrant Rona and Kantara, Ajaneesh has built a strong identity with his blend of folk, orchestral and contemporary sounds. While his work has travelled beyond Kannada cinema in recent years, the composer has largely stayed away from live concert performances — until now.
The concert, scheduled to take place on May 16 at Bharatiya Mall in Bengaluru, was announced at a press interaction where Ajaneesh, along with Lahari Music head Velu and members of the organising team, shared details about the event.
An excited Ajaneesh said he began his career in 2003 as a session musician and arranger with veteran lyricist-composer K Kalyan. After years of struggle, his first film released in 2009, while Shishira brought him recognition. But it was Ulidavaru Kandanthe that became the turning point in his career.
“For the last 13 years, my focus has only been on making good songs. People kept asking why I never did a concert. This is finally happening now,” Ajaneesh said. He added that the event would not follow the format of a regular live concert. Instead, each song will feature specially designed visuals and performances, with music remaining the central element.
The concert line-up includes singers such as Vijay Prakash, Mangli, Nakash Aziz, Ananya Bhat, Sanjith Hegde, Vasuki Vaibhav, Aishwarya Rangarajan and several others.
