Actor Darshan has reportedly approached the Supreme Court seeking bail in the Renukaswamy murder case, alleging that he is facing harassment and threats inside Parappana Agrahara prison.
In his fresh bail plea, Darshan has claimed that he is being verbally abused and threatened by fellow inmates. He has also alleged discrimination in access to basic facilities, including food, clothing, bedding, and even family visits. The actor further stated that despite suffering from severe back pain, he has been given physiotherapy only a few times.
Darshan’s petition also highlights what he describes as inhuman conditions in jail, arguing that he has been kept in a quarantine cell beyond rules and is being treated unfairly compared to others. His earlier bail had been cancelled by the Supreme Court on August 14 last year, and this new plea comes citing delays in witness examination and prolonged trial proceedings.
The hearing on his bail application is scheduled for May 4 in the Supreme Court, and the case is once again drawing strong public attention.
Darshan has also argued that the long legal battle has severely impacted his professional life. He stated that several film projects he had signed with major production houses are now on hold, with producers reportedly investing significant amounts already. He claimed that his career, once active with 2–3 films a year, has come to a standstill.
The case involves around 273 witnesses, of which only a small number have been examined so far. Darshan’s plea states that completing the trial could take years if the current pace continues, making continued incarceration unjust.
As the Supreme Court prepares to hear the matter on May 4, fans of the actor are eagerly waiting to see whether he will get any relief.
