Ramarasa, produced by Guru Deshpande, who also serves as the creative head, and directed by BM Giriraj, continues to build interest with the introduction of Prajwal Devaraj in a new avatar as Guru Siddha, a character rooted in the cultural ethos of Karnataka’s nomadic ‘Sudugadu Siddha’ community.

The character teaser, unveiled on the occasion of Ram Navami by spiritual leader Avadhoota Vinay Guruji, offers a glimpse into a world shaped by mysticism and tradition. The ‘Sudugadu Siddhas’, often regarded as miracle workers, are believed to be ardent devotees of Lord Shiva, moving from village to village, foretelling the future and healing through rare herbal practices.

Speaking about the project, Prajwal Devaraj, who was honoured with a State Award for his previous film Gentleman (2020), hinted at the film’s scale. What may have begun as a modest project has now grown into something much bigger. He highlighted the film’s production values, especially its visual effects, and expressed confidence that Ramarasa could emerge as one of the year’s major releases. The actor was also felicitated at the event for his recent state award recognition.

Even in the absence of director Giriraj, Guru Deshpande echoed similar thoughts. He underlined the importance of Prajwal’s role, especially since it marks their reunion after Gentleman (2020). He added that the final act, particularly the last 20 minutes, has been designed to leave a strong impact, with a climax he believes will hold the audience’s attention. The soundtrack, he said, is another strong element, with each track crafted to stand out.

The film also marks an important step for Karthik Mahesh, who headlines Ramarasa. The team conferred on him the title of ‘Rising Star’, a gesture he described as both humbling and motivating. Receiving the honour from Prajwal Devaraj, Karthik expressed gratitude to the makers for the opportunity.

Backed by G Cinemas and Seven Star Movies, Ramarasa is gearing up for release soon. The film brings together experienced technicians, with cinematography by K Krishnakumar, and lyrics by V Nagendra Prasad and Puneeth Rangaswamy. The ensemble cast includes Sharan, Hebah Patel and Yamuna Srinidhi, among others.

With its mix of folklore, spiritual mystique and commercial ambition, Ramarasa positions itself as a film that stays rooted in culture while aiming for a visually expansive experience.
