Boss, this film, even before it could reach theatres has already sparked conversation. The teaser created early buzz with its gritty tone, but it was the chatter around its supposed resemblance to the Renukaswamy murder case that pushed the film into a more sensitive space. Now, amid that noise, the team has chosen to move forward steadily, releasing the film’s first song and completing its censor formalities.
Headlined by Tanush Shivanna and directed by V Lava, Boss has been cleared with a U/A certificate. This comes despite reports that legal notices were sent on behalf of Darshan, with industry talk also pointing to objections raised by his family, including Vijayalakshmi Darshan and Dinakar Thoogudeepa. Even so, the film has quietly crossed that stage without much disruption.
The spotlight has now shifted to its music. The lyrical video of 'Eenideyo Ninna Maaye', written by Pramod Maravante, composed by Devi Suresh, and sung by Naveen Sajju, is drawing a warm response online. The song leans into emotion, capturing the struggle of a man who wishes well for others but finds himself weighed down by his own circumstances.
Produced by Siri Productions, Boss is set up as a crime thriller but appears to lean just as much on its emotional core. Payal Chengappa plays the female lead, with a supporting cast that includes Veeren Keshav, Bheeshma Ramayya, Lakshman Poojari, and Dr Pramod Hiremath. The film’s cinematographer is handled by Sharath NR Pur.
According to V Lava, the song has been receiving strong viewership since its release. With censor clearance in place, the team is preparing for an April release.
