Earlier this Sunday, we reported about the growing sense of frustration among the Kannada audience for the non-release of director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge in the local language, despite the availability of Tamil and Telugu versions. The frustration is about to end now, as Jio Studios has revealed that the Kannada version will be available in theatres from tomorrow onwards.
"Dhurandhar: The Revenge is ready to roar in Kannada language from tomorrow. Bookings open today," wrote Jio Studios, which has produced the film alongside B62 Studios.
It is worth noting that the first part in the Dhurandhar franchise has not released in theatres with Kannada dubs and that the film is not available on Netflix with audio in the language. Netizens were quick to point this out to Jio Studios.
Notably, Netflix streams Dhurandhar in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu but not in Kannada. Despite this, there is much demand for the Dhurandhar sequel in Karnataka. According to Sacnilk, the film has more than 1000 shows in Bengaluru alone. As per Karnataka Talkies, the film earned around 13 crore on the third day of its release in the state. At the global box office, it has already grossed more than 500 crore. Industry insiders say that the film is likely to surpass the worldwide box office collection of its predecessor.
For the uninitiated, Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues the story of Ranveer Singh's spy character, Hamza Ali Mazari, trying to eliminate terrorism in Pakistan. However, the task is not easy for Hamza, as his cover gets blown finally, contributing to strong opposition from multiple forces in the country.
The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun, among others.
