A song from KD: The Devil, starring Dhruva Sarja as the lead and produced by KVN Productions, has landed the film in serious trouble, turning what should have been a routine release into a nationwide controversy. The track, “Sarse Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse,” directed by Jogi Prem and featuring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi, has drawn sharp criticism for its lyrics in Hindi (Sarke Chunariya) and dance moves, with several groups calling it vulgar.

The issue took a bigger turn when a religious body from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, issued a fatwa against Nora Fatehi. The organisation said the visuals and lyrics go against Islamic values and claimed such content has a bad effect on society. This added a strong religious angle to the growing backlash around the song.

The matter did not stay limited to public criticism. It reached the Parliament, where Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw spoke about it. He said that freedom of expression should respect cultural values and confirmed that the song has been officially banned. This made it clear that the controversy had moved beyond cinema and into national discussion.

As the criticism grew, Nora Fatehi responded with a video statement. She said the song was shot almost three years ago in Kannada and that she trusted the team’s explanation at the time. Since she does not understand Kannada, she said she did not know the meaning of the lyrics. She also stated that she was not aware of the Hindi version or its dubbing, and added that when she later heard it, she warned Jogi Prem that it could lead to controversy and even suggested that it should not be released.

The National Commission for Women has now stepped in and taken note of the issue on its own. It has sent summons to Nora Fatehi, Jogi Prem, Sanjay Dutt, and lyricist Raqueeb Alam, asking them to appear for an inquiry. Complaints have also been made to the censor board and cyber police.

What started as a film song has now turned into a bigger issue, with reactions coming from religious groups, the government, and official bodies. For KD: The Devil, the focus has clearly shifted from the film to the controversy around it.
