International Yoga Day was observed inside Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, drawing attention after actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and co-accused Pavithra Gowda participated in yoga sessions held within the prison premises.
According to reports, Darshan was initially reluctant to join the programme, citing severe back pain. Prison authorities later persuaded him to take part, reportedly explaining that yoga could help alleviate such health issues. Following the discussion, the actor agreed to participate.
While a mass yoga session was organised on the prison’s main grounds for inmates, Darshan chose to practise separately with fellow accused in the corridor of his barrack. The hour-long session reportedly included pranayama, stretching exercises and relaxation techniques. After completing the session, the group returned to their respective barracks.
Meanwhile, Pavithra Gowda joined the collective yoga programme conducted in the women’s wing of the prison. Seated alongside hundreds of other inmates, she reportedly took part in yoga and meditation exercises organised as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations.
The photographs from the event have since gone viral on social media. The images have attracted particular attention from Darshan’s fans, especially after a recent alleged "jail photo" claiming to show the actor looking visibly frail circulated online and was later dismissed by many supporters as fake.
