For Kannada television audiences, courtroom drama has long been synonymous with director TN Seetharam. Through serials such as Mayamruga, Manvantara, Mukta and Mukta Mukta, he has built a loyal following through stories that blended legal battles, moral conflicts and gripping investigations.
Now, that legacy finds a new expression through his daughter, Ashwini Aneesh. Making her directorial debut in the digital space, Ashwini helms The Daily Drop, a six-episode courtroom thriller currently streaming on the LifePages YouTube channel. She also plays a pivotal role in the series.
The Daily Drop centres on the mysterious death of 35-year-old Anagha. What is initially dismissed as a cardiac arrest soon raises suspicion, leading investigators to uncover evidence of a carefully planned murder. As the case moves through investigation and the courtroom, the series explores who killed Anagha, why the crime was committed and how it remained concealed.
The show echoes the strengths of TN Seetharam’s storytelling, using the courtroom as a space where truth is slowly uncovered through arguments, evidence and revelations. At the same time, The Daily Drop is not merely a continuation of a familiar formula. By embracing the web-series format, Ashwini adapts a classic storytelling style for today's digital audience, combining the depth of traditional courtroom dramas with the pace of contemporary streaming content.
The supporting cast includes veteran actor Srinivasa Prabhu alongside Rashmi Bhargava, Santosh Karki, Sudarshan, Navaneeth and Chandan Shankar. Cinematography is by Mahesh Pai, while Shiv Samarth has composed the music.
